ARCHERY

We can shoot all distances (imperial and metric) up to 100 yards. Unlike many archery clubs that have to share their grounds with other clubs, at Ham and Petersham you know there will always be somewhere you can shoot.

We run either a target or a field competition every month for which trophies and medals are awarded at the club’s prize-giving. Archers are encouraged to work for their classification badges and, once you are ready, to compete outside the club. (We are not affiliated to ArcheryGB so you will need to join as a direct member to shoot outside the club.)

No beginners’ course required

Unlike pure archery clubs, we do not insist you complete a beginners’ course and charge you an exorbitant fee for the privilege. You will be taught to shoot safely from the moment you first pick up a bow. Once you have learnt the basics, you will not be left on your own either. Coaching is always available for as long as you want it.

At Ham and Petersham, we have a range of beginners’ bows that will start you shooting and take you all the way until you are ready to buy your own equipment.

Children have to be 10-years-old and must be accompanied by a responsible adult until they are 16.

Wear what you like

Well… within reason. We don’t have club colours or insist you wear the club’s tee-shirt (although tee-shirts, sweatshirts and baseball caps in various colours are available). Wear what you like apart from camouflage which is a club-wide no-no.

Shoot all year with no extra charges in the winter

You can shoot during daylight hours any time the club is open. Sunday morning is our main ‘target day’ and continues throughout the year. If you have your own bow, you can also join us on Saturday mornings when the rest of the club is usually closed.

Once it gets too dark to shoot outside in the evenings, we are able to shoot twice a month in the 25m indoor range. There is no extra charge for hiring a sports hall like most clubs have to do. We are completely self-contained.

Fancy something different?

If it’s raining one day or you just fancy doing something different from archery, why not try one of the other shooting disciplines? Most club members have a primary discipline but dabble in one or more of the others. That’s the advantage of Ham and Petersham – there’s so much on offer!

Come and have a go!!
