Scratch means you get the actual score you shoot. There is no bias to help any beginner.

Handicap means that the actual score you shoot is adjusted with your average score kept on record. If you shoot better than your average the score entered in the competition is high, if you shoot lower than your average the score entered in the competition is low. Inexperienced shots compete against the best on a level playing field. See air pistol handicapping as an example.

 

The Alexandra Cup.

(Handicap Trophy)

40 shots on I.S.U. targets at 50m.

 

The Col. Alington Memorial

(Handicap Trophy)

40 shots on British National Targets at 100 yards.

 

The Earl of Athlone Trophy.

Free Rifle Championship

(Scratch Trophy)

40 shots each standing, kneeling and prone to be shot at 50m on I.S.U. Targets in accordance with I.S.U. Regulations. A Club Championship Badge or bar will be awarded to the winner. There is no handicap section in this competition.

 

The Chariot Trophy.

This trophy will be awarded to the member with the highest aggregate score in the National Summer Leagues. only scores made on behalf of Club Teams may be taken for this purpose. There is no entry fee for this trophy and no other prizes.

 

The Club Championship.

(Scratch Trophy)

40 shots on British Indoor Targets at 25 yards and 40 shots each on British National Targets at 50 yards and 100 yards.

Ties for this Trophy will be shot off immediate¬ly at 100 yards. The Competitors with the leading 15 scores at 25 yards will make up the first details at 50 and 100 yards if more than one detail is required at 50 yards. The Winner receives the Shield and a Gold Silver Wire Club Badge or Bar and Brassard. Other prizes according to entry. The Club Handicap Championship is run concurrently with this competition, for details see “The Victory Cup.”

THE CLUB PAIRS COMPETITION

(Handicap Competition)

Entrants will be arranged in Pairs according to their handicap. The highest will be paired with the lowest etc. Each Competitor fires 40 shots on British National Targets, 20 each at 50 and 100 yards. Coaching by Partner is allowed. Souvenir Spoons will be awarded to the win¬ning pair. The first and second pairs will each receive one of the following Bisley entry certificates: The Charles R. E. Bell, The Daily Mail, The Daily Telegraph and The News of the World. To be awarded in accordance with the condi¬tions of the above Certificates. There is no scratch section to this competition.

THE DAILY EXPRESS

(Handicap Trophy)

40 shots on British National Targets, 20 each at 50 and 100 yards.

THE EARL OF DYSART CUP

(Scratch Trophy)

40 shots on I.S.U. Targets at 50 metres.

 

THE HAMPTON CUP

(Scratch Trophy)

This cup together with a souvenir spoon is awarded to the Competitor with the highest handicap aggregate in the six monthly Winter Spoon Competitions. No entry fee. No other prizes. See also Macautay Cup.

 

THE HARKER

(Scratch Trophy)

40 shots at British National Targets at 100 yards.

Any sights including telescopic sights may be used. Where telescopic sights are used the Rifle must have a Trigger Pressure of at least 3 lbs. Free Rifles may be used with iron sights. There is no handicap section to this Competition.

 

THE JUBILEE TROPHY

(Scratch Trophy)

This trophy will be awarded to the member with the highest aggregate score in the National Winter Leagues. Only scores made on behalf of Club Teams may be taken for thus purpose. There is no entry fee for this trophy and no other prizes.

 

THE MACAULAY CUP

(Scratch Trophy)

This cup together with a souvenir spoon will be awarded to the competitor with the highest gun score aggregate in the six monthly Winter Spoon competitions. No entry fee. No other prizes. See also the Hampton Cup.

 

THE LADY PHILLIPS CUP

(junior Handicap Trophy)

40 shots at British Indoor Targets at 25 yards. Open to Junior Members only.

 

THE CALVERT SMITH CUP

(Handicap Trophy)

40 shots on metric targets at 50 yards.

 

THE SOPWITH TROPHY

(Scratch Trophy)

40 shots on British National Targets at 100 yards.

 

THE STUART TROPHY

(Handicap Trophy)

40 shots on British Indoor Targets at 25 yards.

 

THE LORD SUDELEY’S CHALLENGE TROPHY

(Knock-out Competition)

Individual disc-breaking at 100 yards. The winner to be the Competitor first to shoot down three discs or who has shot down most at the end of two minutes. There is no handicap section in this competition.

 

THE SUDELEY MEMORIAL

(Scratch Trophy)

60 shots on I.S.U. Targets at 50 metres.

 

THE US.A. TEAM CUP

(Handicap Trophy)

30 shots. 10 on British Indoor Targets at 25 yards and 10 each on British National Targets at 50 and 100 yards. No sighting shots are allowed at 50 and 100 yards.

 

THE VICTORY CUP

The Club Handicap Championship

This is shot concurrently with the Club Championship. In addition to the trophy and normal prizes, where the entry exceeds twenty, plaques will be awarded to the Competitors obtaining the highest handicap score at each range. No com¬petitor can win more than one trophy or plaque.

 

THE JACK WARNER MEMORIAL

(Handicap Trophy)

40 shots on British National Targets at 100 yards.

 

THE MABEL WARNER MEMORIAL

(Scratch Trophy)

40 shots on British National Targets. 20 each at 50 and 100 yards.

 

WINTER LONG RANGE COMPETITION

(Scratch Competition)

40 shots on British National Targets. 20 each at 50 and 100 yards.

 

WINTER SPOONS

(Handicap Competition)

Six monthly competitions are held during the months of October to March inclusive and a souvenir spoon is awarded to the handicap winner of each monthly competition.

Each competition consists of 40 shots on British Indoor Targets at 25 yards.

Trophies are awarded for the highest aggregates over the six competitions—see Hampton Cup and Macaulay Cup.
