Muzzle Loaders Association International CommitteeMLAIC PISTOL RANGE REGULATIONS1. 13 shots in 30 minutes, best 10 shots to count for score. One warming shot can be fired off the target within the 30 minutes allowed. The shot must be notified to the range staff. 2. Telescopes allowed for spotting but no coaching allowed. 3. Ties will be decided according to UIT Rules. The winner has the highest number of shots in each scoring ring from the 10 scoring shots in descending order. If there is still no clear winner the tie will be decided by measuring the distance of the scoring shot holes from the centre of the target and the loser will have the shot furthest from the centre. 4. The centre point of the bullet hole must be at least on the line to count for the higher score. 5. No weapon to be loaded until the signal to OPEN FIRE. All weapons to be unloaded on CEASE FIRE. 6. OPEN FIRE - TWO WHISTLES OR SIREN BLASTS. CEASE FIRE - ONE WHISTLE OR SIREN BLAST. TEMPORARY CEASE FIRE - SERIES OF SHORT BLASTS. 7. To prevent using a revolver as a single shot pistol competitors must load at least 5 chambers for each of the first two strings. 8. Powder may only be loaded from containers holding a single charge and priming flasks may only hold a maximum of 16 grms (250 US grains). 9. Bullets: Round for flintlock. Any type within the spirit of the original for percussion. 10. No smoking is permitted on the firing point. 11. Position standing - one hand only. 12. Safety spectacles tinted or otherwise and ear protection are compulsory and failure to comply can cause disqualification. 13. Absolute silence is required whilst shooting is in progress. 14. LOADING INCIDENT - bullet without powder, two bullets, etc. The shooter can call the range officer and shoot away to clear the gun and this shot will not be counted in the 13 shots. 15. These notes are printed for information but as MLAIC Rules are subject to change all competitors should be sure they are aware of the latest rules.
