The Invader Target
This target appears in the 3rd number of Volume one
of the "Marksman" magazine on 1st April 1910. !st Prize was One guinea, 2nd was
10/6d and third 5/-. Further copies of the target could be obtained from the
Publisher's Office for 5/1 per thousand. It is an unusual target in that you
are penalised for keyholing. The Conditions were as follows:-
- Target: THE MARKSMAN "Invader" Target which must be pasted on a
card.
- Distance 15 yards
- Rifles: Any, not exceeding .230 in calibre
- Sights: Any, not containing glass
- Shots: Twenty (two on each figure) any brand
- Entries: Each competitor may send in only one target
- Scoring: According to figures shown. Maximum 100. Touches count
the higher value. Shot-holes must not cut one another. Every junction of two
holes will lose one point. NOTE - The competition id formed to
increase the Marksman's control of aim, and it is just as difficult to spread
shots about a given mark as it is to group them in a wad)
- Ties; if two or more competitors tie for the highest score, the
prize will be awarded to the one making most hits on different divisions of the
target accordong to the value shown, If still a tie the centre of the shot-hole
will be counted instead of the edge. If still a tie, the prizes will be
divided.
- Witness: Firing must take place in the presence of one of the
officers of the Club and another member of the Club, who must both sign the
target (NOTE:- The Editor reserves the right to request any
competitor to fore again before fresh witnesses, and, if the score in the
second test should be more than five points below that of the first one, the
entry may be disqualified).
- Winners of money prizes in previous Marksman ompetitions will
be handicapped as follows:-

- Targets must be returned to the office of the Marksman not
later than 9th May 1910.
