1908 Astor Cup Winners

Not a great deal is yet known about the people in this photograph, but it is probably the first significant competition won by the Club which was only two years old at this stage. The man sitting on the left of the blackboard is John Warner who was the first Club Captain and an important figure in the Club until the 1930s. The Club still compete for the Jack Warner Trophy and the Mabel Warner Trophy in honour of his wife.
The man on the right of the blackboard is now found to be W Collins, who joined the Club in 1904 and stayed on the Committee until about 1930, winning many events, both at Club and National level.
