2013 on the back 25m

2013 – Shooting on the Back 25m Range.

Every month there is a different Course of Fire (CoF) shot on the Back 25m Range for Gallery Rifle Centre Fire (GRCF), Gallery Rifle Small Bore  (GRSB), Long Barrel Revolver (LBR), Long Barrel Pistol (LBP) which may be shot for practice or as a competition entry.

The first Sunday of the month at HPRPC is Guest Day on all the ranges. On the Back 25m the 2nd & 3rd Sundays are typically competition &/or practice and the 4th Sunday is training and practice only. If there is a 5th Sunday in the month it may be anything – check the notice board or the web-site for details.

All members and probationers are welcome – just show up at the “Back 25m” and get your name down on the shooting schedule. If you have not shot the CoF (Course of Fire) before then assistance will be available while you familiarise yourself. If you are not “signed off” someone will accompany you to collect your gun and ammunition and you will be supervised as usual.

Depending how busy it is you may shoot two or three gun classes on the same day, but after your first shoot priority will be given to competition shooters – you can always shoot a different gun class on the next Sunday. You may enter a competition on any appropriate Sunday morning. If you wish to compete then you must declare your intention on entering the range and your first shoot of that day will be counted for the competition. You may practice on an earlier Sunday and may shoot the same CoF again later the same day or later in the month but your score will not be counted.

For 2013 there are four championships which run concurrently – one for each of the gun classes GRCF (Gallery Rifle Centre Fire), GRSB (Gallery Rifle Small Bore) , LBR (Long Barrel Revolver), LBP (Long Barrel Pistol) with a trophy awarded each month to the highest scorer  for that months CoF.

Monthly GRCF, GRSB, LBR & LBP competitions are in two classes: X-Class & A-Class. Every month club competition medals are awarded for each gun class to the top X-Class and top A-Class competitors. A championship trophy is awarded for each monthly competition to the highest scorer in each gun class regardless of X/A class.

At the end of the year there is an overall championship trophy for each gun class, regardless of X/A class. This year eight CoFs will count for the GRCF and GRSB championships and the trophy awarded based on the best six monthly competition scores. Five CoFs will be counted for the LBR & LBP championships and the trophy awarded on the best four competition scores.

At the beginning of each new season the bottom third of the X-Class are replaced by the top shooters from the A-Class.

Competition shoots will cost £2, practice shoots & reshoots £1.

Competition rules are as follows…

  1. Competitions will typically      be shot on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays of the month.
  2. You should expect to shoot      only 2 gun classes on any Sunday and those that have not shot for      competition score will be given priority. It may be possible to shoot      more, but only if time permits. It would be wise to arrive early and shoot      early if you want to shoot more than two guns.
  3. When you arrive you should      get your name down on the shooting order. You may shoot a gun/competition      combination not listed, BUT it will not count towards the championship and      no medals will be awarded. However, scores for these “non championship”      shoots will be kept and published along with the others.
  4. There will be no ‘official’      practice of competitions. Your first shoot of any given competition will      be your ‘recorded competition score’. You may shoot the CoF again      afterwards if there is time and space but your score will not count.
  5. In order to save time      reshoots will not be officially marked or scores recorded.
